Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No power / dead machine

  1. Verify the 240 V supply and inspect disconnect or receptacle condition.
  2. Check the cord or input connection and any visible signs of impact or heat damage.
  3. If dead on verified supply, escalate.

2. Powers up but no welding output

  1. Remove optional accessories or remotes and prove baseline local SMAW output first.
  2. Inspect output connectors, holder lead, and work lead for heating or looseness.
  3. If there is still no stable output in a stripped baseline setup, escalate.

3. Feed, arc-start, or cut-start problem

  1. For SMAW complaints, start with known-good dry rod, clean steel, and direct local control.
  2. For TIG complaints, verify torch, gas, tungsten, and any remote or panel-mode selection.
  3. If stick is normal and TIG is not, the fault is usually not the core power section.

4. Poor arc quality / unstable output

  1. Inspect long leads and output connectors for voltage-drop and heating effects.
  2. Confirm the machine is not being judged through a bad work-return path or stored setup state.
  3. Escalate only after poor output is confirmed with a simple local baseline and known-good leads.

5. Gas and consumable related faults

  1. For TIG use, inspect regulator flow, hose sealing, torch front-end condition, and tungsten prep.
  2. Remote-mode confusion can mimic no-response or poor-start complaints on feature-rich inverters.
  3. Simplify the machine to local control and baseline torch setup before escalating.

6. Intermittent or heat-related behavior

  1. Confirm airflow is clean and unobstructed.
  2. Inspect output studs, connectors, and work-return points for heat after load.
  3. Repeat hot or fault behavior from a cold start with stripped accessories indicates escalation.
