Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No power / dead machine

  1. Verify actual input voltage and inspect disconnect or receptacle condition.
  2. Inspect visible input-path damage and airflow path.
  3. If dead on verified power, escalate.

2. Powers up but no welding output

  1. Strip to local stick baseline with known-good leads and dry rod.
  2. Inspect clamp, holder, and output connectors for heat or looseness.
  3. If baseline output remains unstable, escalate.

3. Feed, arc-start, or cut-start problem

  1. For stick, confirm rod condition, clean steel, and solid work-return contact.
  2. For TIG-capable operation, verify torch, gas, tungsten, and control setup.
  3. If stick is healthy, keep the complaint outside the core power section.

4. Poor arc quality / unstable output

  1. High-output arc machines expose weak current paths quickly, so inspect connectors, lead ends, and clamp points under load.
  2. Confirm the complaint survives a simplified local baseline.
  3. Escalate only after installation and current-path faults are ruled out.

5. Gas and consumable related faults

  1. TIG-side complaints require torch, gas, and tungsten checks first.
  2. Do not let TIG-only complaints drive core machine diagnosis if baseline stick output is healthy.
  3. If TIG alone is affected, keep the diagnosis in the accessory branch until proven otherwise.

6. Intermittent or heat-related behavior

  1. Inspect airflow and dust loading.
  2. Check connectors, clamp, holder, and input path for heat immediately after the complaint.
  3. Repeat faults from a cold start indicate escalation.
