Symptom Most likely causes First checks
Poor MMA output Bad clamp, heated connector, wrong settings Prove simple MMA baseline
TIG complaint only Accessory or gas-path issue Prove MMA first
Output cuts out hot Hot connector, blocked airflow, installation issue Inspect hot points and airflow
No output with power present Remote or lead-path issue Remove accessories and retest

Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No power / dead machine

  1. Verify installation voltage and disconnect condition.
  2. Inspect visible input path damage and cooling path condition.
  3. If dead on verified installation, escalate.

2. Powers up but no welding output

  1. Strip to local MMA baseline with known-good leads.
  2. Inspect clamp, holder, and output connectors for heat or looseness.
  3. If baseline output remains abnormal, escalate.

3. Feed, arc-start, or cut-start problem

  1. For MMA complaints, verify rod condition and work-return quality.
  2. For TIG-capable use, verify torch, tungsten, and gas setup.
  3. If MMA is good, do not treat TIG-only symptoms as core machine failure.

4. Poor arc quality / unstable output

  1. Industrial stick machines are often blamed when the current path is the real issue.
  2. Inspect connectors and long leads carefully under load.
  3. Escalate only after poor output is confirmed in a simplified local setup.

5. Gas and consumable related faults

  1. TIG-capable faults belong in the torch and gas branch first.
  2. Verify regulator flow, hose integrity, and tungsten condition.
  3. Keep TIG-specific symptoms separate from base MMA health.

6. Intermittent or heat-related behavior

  1. Inspect airflow and dust loading.
  2. Check connectors and clamp points for heat immediately after the complaint.
  3. Repeat cold-start faults indicate escalation.
