Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No TIG start

  1. Confirm process is TIG rather than stick.
  2. Verify remote/pedal connection and whether the machine is expecting remote control.
  3. Check work clamp placement and tungsten preparation.
  4. Confirm gas is flowing and the cylinder/regulator path is correct.
  5. If there is still no HF start or no arc response, escalate.

2. Bad TIG arc quality

  1. Normalize the setup: fresh tungsten, pure argon, clean work, and short arc length.
  2. Confirm the material mode makes sense: AC TIG for aluminum and DC TIG for steel/stainless.
  3. If aluminum welds are dull, wandering, or lack cleaning action, inspect oxide removal and grounding before suspecting internal AC-balance issues.
  4. If DC TIG behaves normally but AC TIG does not, keep the diagnosis in the AC/HF branch first.

3. Stick mode works but TIG does not

  1. That usually narrows the problem to torch, gas, remote, or HF/start circuitry rather than the main power section.
  2. Verify torch consumables and gas path.
  3. If stick is normal and TIG still will not initiate with a correct external setup, escalate.

4. Thermal or duty-cycle complaints

  1. The published ratings vary strongly with process and duty cycle.
  2. Record amperage, mode, and duration of weld before treating a shutdown as abnormal.
  3. Check ventilation and any auxiliary load on the receptacle because the manual ties ratings and wiring assumptions to supply/load conditions.
