Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No power / dead machine

  1. Verify actual input voltage and eliminate questionable extension cords.
  2. Inspect plug, cord, switch, and visible external damage.
  3. If the unit is dead on verified source power, escalate.

2. Powers up but no welding output

  1. Prove the simplest process first, usually stick.
  2. If stick is healthy, keep the complaint in the TIG accessory and gas branch.
  3. If both processes remain abnormal, escalate core inverter diagnosis sooner.

3. Feed, arc-start, or cut-start problem

  1. For stick complaints, start with known-good dry rod, clean steel, and a strong work return.
  2. For TIG complaints, inspect torch, gas flow, tungsten, and lead setup.
  3. Many compact inverter complaints are configuration faults rather than internal failures.
  4. If TIG complaints appear only with pulse enabled, remove pulse and prove the base DC TIG path first.

4. Poor arc quality / unstable output

  1. Reset to a simple stick or DC TIG baseline first.
  2. Inspect work-return quality, connector tightness, and line-voltage stability.
  3. If instability spans multiple processes, escalate sooner.
  4. If stick is healthy but TIG is unstable, stay in torch, gas, or pulse-setting branches before broadening to the core inverter.

5. Gas and consumable related faults

  1. Keep gas and consumable diagnosis with the TIG process in use.
  2. Verify actual gas flow, tungsten condition, and front-end hardware.
  3. Porosity or poor starts usually belong to the torch path first.

6. Intermittent or heat-related behavior

  1. Check fan operation and blocked airflow.
  2. Inspect clamp, holder, and torch or connector points after load for heat buildup.
  3. Repeated thermal or fault behavior under normal use is an escalation point.
