Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No power / dead machine

  1. Verify battery condition, cable tightness, and engine grounds.
  2. Check fuel level, quality, filters, and visible air/fuel issues.
  3. If the engine cannot be stabilized after external checks, escalate.

2. Powers up but no welding output

  1. Confirm engine speed reaches the correct governed range during weld demand.
  2. Inspect weld studs, cable lugs, work clamp, and output-selection/accessory settings.
  3. If all weld outputs and auxiliary outputs are abnormal, stay in the shared engine/control path first.

3. Feed, arc-start, or cut-start problem

  1. Keep feeder or remote package faults separate from the base machine.
  2. Verify feeder power, control cables, and output path selection.
  3. High-output engine drives often get falsely condemned when the real problem is in a specific accessory path.

4. Poor arc quality / unstable output

  1. Watch engine RPM and response under heavy load.
  2. Inspect high-current connectors and work returns for heat buildup.
  3. Fuel and governor issues can mimic regulation faults on these machines.

5. Gas, air, or consumable related faults

  1. For attached wire or TIG packages, keep gas and front-end diagnosis outside the base engine drive first.
  2. Inspect accessory consumables and hose routing.
  3. Do not mix gun/torch complaints with engine-output diagnosis.

6. Intermittent or heat-related behavior

  1. Check whether symptoms only appear after sustained high-output work.
  2. Inspect cooling airflow, hot lugs, and connector temperature.
  3. Repeated hot-run instability on multiple outputs should be escalated.
