This annex is for MIG and TIG complaints that are often misdiagnosed as bad arc control, weak output, or unstable electronics when the real problem is shielding-gas delivery.

Core rule

If the arc is unstable, porous, oxidized, or the tungsten or puddle behavior is wrong, prove gas delivery before blaming the machine.

Symptom matrix

Gas-path checklist

  1. Verify cylinder contents and valve position.
  2. Verify regulator or flowmeter setting.
  3. Inspect hose routing and all connections from cylinder to machine and machine to gun or torch.
  4. Inspect front-end sealing parts: nozzle, diffuser, cup, collet body, back cap, and gas lens where applicable.
  5. If one gun or torch package fails while another works, keep the diagnosis on the accessory gas path.
