This annex is for diagnosing complaints that appear when machines are powered from generators, jobsite power, or questionable portable sources.
Use it with:
If the complaint appears only on portable power, prove the source before blaming the machine.
| Symptom | Most likely portable-power branch | High-value first move |
|---|---|---|
| Machine unstable on site but fine in shop | weak or dirty portable source | retest on known-good shop power |
| Random shutdown or erratic display on generator | source quality or voltage instability | remove portable source variables and retest |
| Stick okay, TIG poor on portable power | source instability plus accessory sensitivity | retest on stable branch with same accessory package |
| Plasma weak or inconsistent in field | portable source plus extension-cord drop | retest on direct stable supply |
Stickmate 160i, Maxstar, Dynasty, Square Wave TIG 200, and similar units can look faulty when the real problem is poor portable-source quality.POWER MIG 211i, Millermatic 211 PRO, Multimatic, POWER MIG 210 MP, POWER MIG 215 MPi, and similar models can be misdiagnosed on portable branches with voltage sag or weak adapters.
