Failure patterns and repair logic

1. Separate engine, weld, and auxiliary complaints

  1. Determine whether the fault belongs to engine behavior, weld output, or auxiliary power.
  2. If auxiliary power is normal but welding is not, stay in the weld path.
  3. If all functions degrade together, focus on engine regulation first.

2. No power / no weld output

  1. Verify weld mode, output range, and lead connections.
  2. Inspect output studs and cable lugs for looseness or heat.
  3. If using a feeder, confirm compatibility and control-cable condition.

3. Engine regulation problem

  1. Check fuel delivery, battery condition, and maintenance items.
  2. Repeated hunting or unstable speed under load points to engine service rather than pure welding failure.
  3. Do not diagnose through combined auxiliary and welding loads until plain engine speed is stable.

4. Poor arc quality / unstable output

  1. After engine speed is confirmed stable, inspect clamp quality and output connections.
  2. Separate feeder faults from base weld-output faults.
  3. If the complaint disappears with plain stick and no feeder attached, keep the diagnosis outside the generator section.

5. Auxiliary power interaction

  1. Remove nonessential external loads.
  2. Retest welding and engine regulation with the machine isolated.
  3. If the complaint returns only when outlets are loaded, keep the diagnosis in the engine and auxiliary branch first.

6. Intermittent or heat-related behavior

  1. Record whether the fault appears only after sustained operation.
  2. Inspect hot lugs, cables, and engine-side components.
  3. Repeated hot-run instability with a clean maintenance baseline is an escalation point.
