Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No power / dead machine

  1. Verify actual input voltage and receptacle or disconnect condition.
  2. Inspect plug, cord, and input terminations for heat or looseness.
  3. If the interface is dead on verified power, escalate rather than guessing at inverter-board failure.

2. Powers up but no welding output

  1. Prove basic stick or simple DC TIG output first.
  2. Clamp to clean parent metal and verify output lead seating.
  3. If stick is normal but TIG is not, keep the diagnosis in torch, gas, and remote setup before broadening to the machine.

3. Arc-start problem

  1. Disable pulse and advanced features.
  2. Verify remote mode, gas flow, tungsten preparation, and work-return quality.
  3. Confirm whether the torch arrangement expects machine gas control or valve-torch handling.
  4. If still no TIG start after those checks, escalate.

4. Poor arc quality / unstable output

  1. Normalize to simple DC TIG on clean steel or stainless.
  2. Keep clamp and gas quality in the first branch.
  3. Reintroduce pulse only after baseline performance is proven.
  4. If the complaint follows one remote or cooler arrangement, keep the diagnosis outside the core power source first.

5. Gas and consumable related faults

  1. Verify cylinder pressure, regulator flow, and hose integrity.
  2. Inspect tungsten, collet body, cups, and torch consumables.
  3. Stick-good/TIG-bad is a very useful first split because it keeps the diagnosis in the TIG accessory chain.

6. Intermittent or heat-related behavior

  1. Determine whether the problem appears only after warm-up or higher duty cycle.
  2. Note any control instability, display anomalies, or connector heating with temperature.
  3. Repeated faults from a cold start or with known-good accessories should be escalated.
