Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No power / dead machine

  1. Verify installation power and input configuration.
  2. Inspect input lugs and visible field damage.
  3. Escalate if the base unit remains dead on verified power.

2. Powers up but no welding output

  1. Remove ArcReach accessories and test the base unit as simply as possible.
  2. Confirm process selection and lead routing.
  3. If no output exists without ArcReach hardware, escalate core power-source diagnosis.

3. Feed, arc-start, or cut-start problem

  1. Keep ArcReach communication/control issues separate from actual output-current faults.
  2. Verify feeder or remote accessory integrity and connector condition.
  3. Damage in field cables and connectors is a common root cause.

4. Poor arc quality / unstable output

  1. Inspect long-lead connectors and work return under load.
  2. Compare performance with shorter leads and without ArcReach accessories if practical.
  3. If instability remains in simplified configuration, escalate.

5. Gas and consumable related faults

  1. Gas and consumable faults remain in the attached gun or torch package, not the ArcReach communication layer.
  2. Verify actual flow, front-end condition, and gun wear.
  3. Avoid assigning porosity or burnback to the power source too early.

6. Intermittent or heat-related behavior

  1. Inspect fan operation and contamination from field environments.
  2. Check high-current connectors for heat buildup.
  3. Repeated hot-run instability independent of accessories requires escalation.
