Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No power / dead machine

  1. Verify actual input power and receptacle quality.
  2. Inspect plug, cord, and visible connections for heat or looseness.
  3. If dead on verified power, escalate rather than guessing at inverter-board failure.

2. Powers up but no welding output

  1. Prove basic stick or simple DC TIG output first.
  2. Clamp to clean metal and confirm output lead seating.
  3. If stick is normal but TIG is not, keep the diagnosis in torch, gas, and remote setup first.

3. Arc-start problem

  1. Confirm remote mode matches the connected pedal or torch-switch setup.
  2. Verify gas flow, tungsten preparation, and work-return quality.
  3. Remove pulse and restore conservative settings before deeper assumptions are made.
  4. If still no TIG start after those checks, escalate.

4. Poor arc quality / unstable output

  1. Reset the machine to simple DC TIG on clean steel or stainless.
  2. For aluminum, return AC settings to moderate baseline values.
  3. Keep gas coverage and grounding in the first branch before deeper diagnosis.
  4. If DC TIG is healthy and AC TIG is not, stay in the AC-parameter and accessory branch before broadening to the machine.

5. Gas and consumable related faults

  1. Verify cylinder pressure, regulator flow, and hose integrity.
  2. Inspect tungsten condition and torch consumables.
  3. Stick-good and TIG-bad is a very useful first split because it keeps the diagnosis in the TIG accessory chain.

6. Intermittent or heat-related behavior

  1. Determine whether the problem appears only after warm-up.
  2. Note any control instability or display anomalies with temperature.
  3. Repeated faults from a cold start should be escalated.
