Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No power / dead machine

  1. Verify 230 V input and plug/receptacle integrity.
  2. Inspect the switch and any visible external protection devices.
  3. If the unit is dead on verified input, escalate.

2. Powers up but no welding output

  1. Confirm the clamp path and torch front end before deeper diagnosis.
  2. Verify mode selection and basic setup.
  3. If wire feeds but current is absent, inspect front-panel connections and output path.

3. Feed problem

  1. Remove the tip and test bare-wire feed.
  2. Match drive-roll groove and tension to the installed wire.
  3. On automotive machines, aluminum or soft-wire complaints often come from liner and spool handling rather than electronics.

4. Poor arc quality / unstable output

  1. Return to a known mild-steel baseline with standard wire and gas.
  2. Confirm Auto-Set or manual settings actually match wire size and shielding gas.
  3. Inspect the work lead and front-end consumables before assuming waveform/control faults.

5. Gas and consumable related faults

  1. Verify bottle contents and actual flow at the gun.
  2. Replace suspect tip, diffuser, and nozzle.
  3. Porosity on thin sheet often comes from drafts and nozzle contamination, not machine instability.

6. Intermittent or heat-related behavior

  1. Check fan operation and intake blockage.
  2. Inspect for hot output connectors and hot clamp hardware.
  3. Persistent display or fault behavior after cooling is an escalation point.
