Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No power / dead machine

  1. Verify 230 V supply and inspect plug, cord, and visible external damage.
  2. Remove questionable extension arrangements and inspect switch condition.
  3. If the machine remains dead on verified input, escalate.

2. Powers up but no welding output

  1. Clamp to clean parent metal and inspect work-return hardware.
  2. Replace the contact tip and inspect diffuser or nozzle condition.
  3. If wire feeds without arc, keep the diagnosis in current delivery and connector seating before deeper inverter assumptions.

3. Feed problem

  1. Remove the tip and test bare-wire feed through the active gun.
  2. Match drive-roll groove, pressure, and program to the installed wire.
  3. Keep spool-gun-specific faults separate from the base MIG system.
  4. If feed is good cold but degrades hot, inspect gun liner and connector heating before blaming the machine.

4. Poor arc quality or unstable output

  1. Normalize to a conservative steel MIG baseline, then return to pulse or advanced modes.
  2. Verify actual gas flow, work-return quality, and front-panel connector seating.
  3. If only advanced modes fail, stay in the program and accessory path before condemning the power source.

5. Gas and consumable related faults

  1. Verify bottle contents, gas mix, and actual flow at the gun.
  2. Replace worn tips, diffusers, and nozzles, and inspect gun liner condition.
  3. Gas mismatch and front-end wear are common causes of pulse-MIG complaints.

6. Intermittent, control, or software-related behavior

  1. Check fan operation and cooling-path cleanliness.
  2. Inspect hot connector points, clamp hardware, and gun current-transfer components.
  3. Verify the machine is on the correct current software release when update-related behavior is suspected.
  4. Persistent hot-run faults across basic and advanced modes should be escalated.
