Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No power / dead machine

  1. Verify actual input voltage and remove weak extension-cord arrangements.
  2. Inspect plug, cord, switch, and visible external damage.
  3. If the machine is dead on verified input, escalate.

2. Powers up but no welding output

  1. Split by process immediately and prove the simplest healthy process first, usually stick.
  2. If one process is healthy, keep the diagnosis in the failing process path.
  3. If multiple processes remain abnormal, escalate core inverter diagnosis sooner.

3. Feed or arc-start problem

  1. Keep MIG and TIG faults separate at the start.
  2. For MIG, inspect rolls, tip, liner, spool drag, gas, and clamp.
  3. For TIG, verify torch, gas, pedal, tungsten, and AC/DC settings.
  4. On multiprocess prosumer machines, process-switch drift is a leading cause of false failure reports.

4. Poor arc quality / unstable output

  1. Normalize each active process to a simple known-good baseline.
  2. Inspect work-return quality, connector tightness, and line-voltage stability.
  3. For aluminum TIG complaints, reset balance and frequency to moderate baseline values before deeper diagnosis.
  4. Keep synergic/program behavior separate from plain manual-baseline behavior.

5. Gas and consumable related faults

  1. Keep gas and consumable diagnosis with the active process.
  2. Verify actual gas flow, tip/tungsten condition, and front-end hardware.
  3. Porosity or poor starts usually belong to the torch or gun path first.

6. Intermittent or heat-related behavior

  1. Check fan operation and blocked airflow.
  2. Inspect clamp, pedal, gun, and torch connections after load for heat buildup.
  3. Repeated thermal or fault behavior under normal use is an escalation point.
