Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No power / dead machine

  1. Verify actual input voltage and remove questionable extension arrangements.
  2. Inspect plug, cord, switch, and visible external damage.
  3. If the machine is dead on verified input power, escalate.

2. Powers up but no welding output

  1. Document the current symptom and simplify the machine state.
  2. Normalize or reset stored weld data before deeper diagnosis.
  3. Retest on simple steel MIG with known wire and gas.
  4. If multiple processes remain abnormal after reset, escalate core inverter diagnosis sooner.
  5. If the complaint started after another operator changed modes or saved programs, treat stored-state corruption or misconfiguration as more likely than immediate hardware failure.

3. Feed problem

  1. Confirm roller selection, guide alignment, tension, tip size, and liner condition.
  2. Verify polarity after wire-type changes.
  3. Eliminate branch-supply weakness on 120 V before deeper diagnosis.
  4. If only stick or TIG is affected, keep the diagnosis in that accessory and lead path rather than the feeder.

4. Poor arc quality / unstable output

  1. Keep sMIG behavior separate from plain baseline behavior.
  2. Retest on a simple known-good steel setup before judging advanced arc features.
  3. Software state and advanced features make bad settings a common root cause on this model.
  4. If plain baseline is healthy, keep the complaint in the settings layer before escalating the machine.

5. Gas and consumable related faults

  1. Verify actual gas flow, wire size, and selected wire or process state.
  2. Replace worn tips, diffusers, nozzles, and inspect front-end wear.
  3. Optional spool-gun complaints should stay in the accessory path first.

6. Intermittent or heat-related behavior

  1. Record exact message or code and whether it appears only after warmup.
  2. Power cycle and recheck after the machine has cooled.
  3. If the issue repeats after reset and baseline setup, escalate.
