Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No power / dead machine

  1. Verify 230 V input at the receptacle and inspect plug and cord condition.
  2. Remove weak extension arrangements and inspect the power switch.
  3. If the machine remains dead on verified power, escalate.

2. Powers up but no welding output

  1. Prove the simplest process first, usually stick or basic MIG on steel.
  2. If one process is healthy, keep the diagnosis in the failing process path.
  3. If multiple processes are abnormal, escalate core inverter diagnosis sooner.
  4. If the complaint disappears when the machine is simplified to one healthy process branch, stay out of generic machine failure assumptions.

3. Feed problem

  1. For MIG complaints, remove the tip and test bare-wire feed, then verify gas and polarity.
  2. For TIG complaints, verify torch, gas, tungsten, and remote or trigger behavior.
  3. Process-specific faults should stay in the process path, not in generic machine failure assumptions.

4. Poor arc quality / unstable output

  1. Reset to a conservative steel MIG or stick baseline first.
  2. Inspect work return, connector seating, and line-voltage stability.
  3. If arc instability spans processes, inspect shared input and output connections and escalate if needed.
  4. If only one process is unstable, keep the diagnosis in that torch, lead, or gas branch.

5. Gas and consumable related faults

  1. Verify actual gas flow at the affected torch or gun.
  2. Replace worn tips, diffusers, nozzles, tungsten, cups, or collets as appropriate.
  3. Keep front-end faults separate from core inverter diagnosis.

6. Intermittent or heat-related behavior

  1. Check fan operation, intake blockage, and recent duty-cycle use.
  2. Inspect hot clamp hardware, torch necks, and connector interfaces.
  3. Repeated thermal or fault behavior after cooling and setup correction requires escalation.
