Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No power / dead machine

  1. Verify actual input voltage and phase and remove questionable extension arrangements.
  2. Inspect cord, plug, and visible external damage.
  3. If the unit is dead on verified source power, escalate.

2. Powers up but no welding output

  1. Prove basic stick or simple local DC TIG output first.
  2. Clamp to clean parent metal and verify output-lead seating.
  3. If stick is normal but TIG or wire-support operation is not, keep the diagnosis in torch, gas, remote, or feeder setup.

3. Arc-start or feeder complaint

  1. Return TIG to a simple baseline and disable advanced features.
  2. Verify remote mode, gas flow, tungsten preparation, and work-return quality.
  3. If configured for wire support, isolate the feeder and control cable before blaming the power source.

4. Poor arc quality or unstable output

  1. Normalize to simple DC TIG or stick on clean material.
  2. Inspect clamp quality, gas coverage, and connector temperature under load.
  3. Reintroduce advanced settings or wire-support accessories only after baseline performance is proven.

5. Gas and consumable related faults

  1. Verify cylinder pressure, regulator flow, and hose integrity.
  2. Inspect tungsten, collet, cup, and torch front end.
  3. For wire-support setups, keep gun and gas faults separate from inverter diagnosis.

6. Intermittent, control, or software-state behavior

  1. Determine whether the problem appears only after warmup or higher duty cycle.
  2. Note any control instability or display anomalies with temperature.
  3. Verify relevant feature-card or software configuration state before escalation.
  4. Repeated faults from a cold start or on stable input should be escalated.
