Symptom Most likely causes First checks
Only one process fails process-specific accessory path prove another process first
No wire feed gun path, drive path, or control branch remove the tip and prove bare-wire feed
Poor arc quality wrong process state, polarity, or accessory path simplify to one baseline process
Intermittent behavior heat, utility path, or control-state drift retest with the machine simplified

Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No power / dead machine

  1. Verify input power, idle state, and process-selection state before condemning the shared power source.

2. Powers up but no welding output

  1. If the machine powers up but there is no welding output, prove one healthy process before chasing the failing branch.
  2. Persistently low bus voltage around the mid-100 V range after board work is a rectifier branch on this model family.

3. Feed, arc-start, or cut-start problem

  1. Feed, start, or no-output complaints should be split by process. Do not diagnose a MIG-only complaint like a whole-machine failure.
  2. No reaction to the gun trigger with everything else normal can still be trigger wiring. Do not over-diagnose the control board once 24 V is proven.

4. Poor arc quality / unstable output

  1. Poor arc quality often comes from wrong process-change state, wrong polarity, or accessory-path faults before it comes from the shared power source.

5. Gas, air, or consumable related faults

  1. Gas, consumable, and accessory complaints should be isolated to the active process before escalation.

6. Intermittent or heat-related behavior

  1. If the complaint appears after warm-up or after a process change, inspect utility quality, current-path heating, and control-state drift before internal repair.
