Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No power / dead machine

  1. Verify actual input voltage and remove questionable extension arrangements.
  2. Inspect plug, cord, switch, and visible external damage.
  3. If the unit is dead on verified input power, escalate.

2. Powers up but no welding output

  1. Prove the simplest healthy process first, usually stick or basic flux-core/MIG.
  2. If one process is healthy, keep the diagnosis inside the failing process path.
  3. If multiple processes remain abnormal, escalate core inverter diagnosis sooner.

3. Feed or arc-start problem

  1. Reduce the machine to a simple steel MIG baseline.
  2. Confirm wire size, gas, polarity, and work return.
  3. Check roll pressure, groove, tip, liner, and spool drag.
  4. If MIG stabilizes, then add synergic or alternate-process features back carefully.
  5. In the lift-TIG branch, verify the correct TIG torch, gas path, clamp placement, and torch-to-work technique.

4. Poor arc quality / unstable output

  1. Keep manual baseline mode separate from synergic mode behavior.
  2. Inspect work-return quality, actual gas flow, and line voltage under load.
  3. Direct-to-consumer hobby multiprocess units generate many complaints that are setup and power related rather than hard failures.
  4. Do not mix lift-TIG technique/setup errors with MIG feeder complaints.

5. Gas and consumable related faults

  1. Verify actual gas flow in MIG or TIG use.
  2. Replace worn tips, diffusers, nozzles, tungsten, cups, or collets as appropriate.
  3. Porosity or poor starts usually belong to the torch or gun path first.

6. Intermittent or heat-related behavior

  1. Check fan operation and blocked airflow.
  2. Inspect hot plug blades, clamp jaws, gun neck, and holder/torch connections after load.
  3. Controls or display behavior that becomes erratic after warmup should be escalated.
