Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No power / dead machine

  1. Verify input supply, fan behavior, and visible protection states before deeper diagnosis.

2. Powers up but no plasma output

  1. If the machine powers up but there is no plasma output, split the complaint into air, torch, clamp, and main-output branches.
  2. If the green 24 V light drops or the fan collapses during the start attempt, keep the diagnosis in the capacitor-board versus upper-board support branch before condemning the output section.
  3. No HF with OCV around the high 200 V range stays in the lower-board relay or capacitor-board branch, while no HF with lower OCV points toward the inverter/top board in the workbook.

3. Pilot, start, or transfer problem

  1. Keep start, pilot, and transfer complaints separate. A healthy pilot does not guarantee a healthy transfer path.
  2. Arc-start complaints should stay in dry air, SG55 consumable seating, clamp contact, OCV class, and dirty HF striker branches before deeper repair.
  3. If pilot exists but transfer does not, keep the fault in the clamp, work surface, and return path before board-level repair.

4. Poor cut quality / unstable output

  1. Poor cut quality should stay in the SG55 front-end stack, air dryness, and work-return branch until those are proven healthy.
  2. Do not chase an internal failure if cut quality changes immediately with fresh consumables, drier air, or better clamp placement.

5. Gas, air, or consumable related faults

  1. Air and consumable complaints dominate most plasma service calls. Verify air under flow, not just at static pressure.
  2. A fresh SG55 stack is the first correction on no-start, weak-start, and bad-cut complaints before deeper electrical work.

6. Intermittent or heat-related behavior

  1. If the complaint appears after warm-up or repeated starts, inspect airflow, fan behavior, clamp heating, and torch-front-end heat damage first.
  2. Automatic shutdown or self-switching can come from poor top-board supply or reversed wiring. Verify the low-voltage feed, green 24 V light behavior, and fan stability before replacing the machine.
