Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No power / dead machine

  1. Verify actual input voltage and remove weak extension-cord arrangements.
  2. Inspect plug, cord, switch, and visible external damage.
  3. If the machine is dead on verified input power, escalate.

2. Powers up but no welding output

  1. Prove stick output first with known-good electrodes and clamp.
  2. If stick is healthy, keep the diagnosis in the TIG accessory and settings path.
  3. If both stick and TIG are abnormal, escalate core inverter diagnosis sooner.

3. Arc-start failure or no TIG initiation

  1. Disable pulse and advanced settings and test simple DC TIG on clean steel.
  2. Verify gas flow, tungsten preparation, clamp quality, and pedal response.
  3. If TIG still will not start with stick proven healthy, stay in the torch, gas, and pedal branch before assuming internal fault.

4. Poor arc quality or unstable output

  1. Reset to a conservative DC TIG baseline first, then return to AC if needed.
  2. Verify gas coverage, work-return quality, and torch front-end tightness.
  3. For aluminum complaints, reset AC balance and frequency to moderate values before deeper diagnosis.
  4. If DC TIG is healthy and AC TIG is not, stay in the AC-parameter and accessory branch before broadening to the machine.

5. Gas and consumable related faults

  1. Verify bottle contents and actual regulator flow.
  2. Inspect torch hose, cup, collet, collet body, and back cap.
  3. Contaminated tungsten or front-end leaks often feel like machine faults on AC/DC TIG packages.

6. Intermittent or heat-related behavior

  1. Check fan operation and blocked airflow.
  2. Inspect hot torch parts, hot clamp hardware, and pedal or connector sensitivity after warmup.
  3. Persistent faults after cooling and setup correction should be escalated.
