Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No start

  1. Confirm the machine is actually in the correct AC or DC mode.
  2. Verify foot-pedal operation and connections.
  3. Check argon flow, work-clamp placement, and tungsten condition.
  4. If the machine still will not start after a clean external setup, escalate.

2. Aluminum TIG complaints

  1. Reset the machine to moderate AC baseline settings.
  2. Clean oxide from the workpiece and verify pure argon.
  3. Test on a clean coupon before treating the machine as faulty.

3. Supply complaints

  1. Capture whether the complaint occurs on 120 V or 240 V.
  2. Compare it to the machine's published performance split.
  3. Remove extension cords and test on a known-good branch.

4. Accessory and setup-state complaints

  1. Disconnect optional accessories and retest with the standard torch and work-lead arrangement.
  2. Compare behavior after a full return to the simplest supported settings.
  3. If the symptom disappears at baseline, keep the diagnosis on setup-state drift rather than machine failure.

5. Gas and consumable related faults

  1. Verify actual argon flow and hose integrity.
  2. Regrind or replace tungsten and inspect cup, collet, and collet-body seating.
  3. Gas-path faults and tungsten contamination often feel like machine problems on simple TIG packages.

6. Intermittent or heat-related behavior

  1. Review duty cycle and airflow path.
  2. Inspect clamp, plug, and torch-connection temperature after short load.
  3. If the machine overheats or faults from a cold clean start, escalate sooner.
