Failure patterns and repair logic

1. No power / dead machine

  1. Verify actual input voltage and remove questionable extension arrangements.
  2. Inspect plug, cord, switch, and visible external damage.
  3. If the machine is dead on verified input, escalate internal supply diagnosis.

2. Powers up but no welding output

  1. Prove stick output first with known-good electrodes and clamp.
  2. If stick is healthy, keep the diagnosis in the TIG accessory path.
  3. If both TIG and stick are abnormal, escalate core inverter diagnosis sooner.
  4. If TIG returns after simplifying to plain DC TIG baseline, keep the diagnosis in settings and remote state first.

3. Arc-start problem

  1. Confirm argon cylinder, regulator, and hose path.
  2. Verify foot pedal connection and selected mode.
  3. Check tungsten prep and work return before suspecting internal failure.
  4. Keep gas/start complaints separate from AC-parameter complaints.

4. Poor arc quality / unstable output

  1. Return AC balance, frequency, and pulse to a moderate baseline.
  2. Test on clean coupon material.
  3. Separate settings drift from genuine machine issues.
  4. If stick also struggles on verified 240 V, escalate.

5. Gas and consumable related faults

  1. Verify actual argon flow and inspect torch hose, cup, collet, gas lens if fitted, and back cap.
  2. Regrind or replace contaminated tungsten.
  3. AC TIG parameter reset is one of the highest-value first steps, but torch-side leaks must be cleared before blaming settings alone.

6. Intermittent or heat-related behavior

  1. Check fan operation and blocked airflow.
  2. Inspect hot torch parts, hot clamp hardware, and pedal/connector sensitivity after warmup.
  3. Display or control behavior that becomes unstable should be escalated.
