Test intent

Prove simple DC TIG first, then AC TIG, then stick if the complaint involves it.
Separate pedal, torch, and gas-path faults from true AC/DC output faults.
Confirm the machine is not being misread because of expected display behavior or wrong pedal resistance.

Tools and setup

Multimeter
Clean steel coupon and aluminum coupon if AC testing is required
Known-good argon supply and regulator
Known-good torch front end and tungsten
Known-good pedal or remote only if the complaint involves that branch

Pre-power checks

If it fails

DC healthy but AC unstable: keep the diagnosis in AC-mode branch logic.
Complaint follows the pedal only: keep the diagnosis external.
Weak shielding or erratic postflow: stay in regulator and hose branch first.
Stick healthy but TIG dead: keep the diagnosis TIG-side before general board blame.
Pedal branch wrong resistance or erratic response: stop at the external 4K7 pedal path before internal repair.
