Use This Guide For
- teaching input-sense discipline and mode-state interpretation
- breaking the habit of treating every low-OCV complaint as failed output hardware
Opening Prompt
- "A CoolArc200 is on 220 V but seems to act like 110 V, and the OCV looks low. What do you prove before you open the machine?"
What To Listen For First
- the trainee should say actual connected input and mode state first
- they should mention
J3 pins 2 and 7 as the clean split between sense and indication
Redirect Questions
- if they rush into the machine: "What does low OCV mean on this model if
VRD or wake-up behavior is active?"
- if they ignore startup blink: "What other branch is still active if the fan or display startup is abnormal?"
Strong Answer Markers
- they use the measurement card before the opening map
- they separate input sense from panel indication
- they keep startup blink and fan behavior in play instead of discarding it
Common Failure Modes
- calling the output section dead before mode-state proof
- opening the machine without a clean input story
- forgetting that the fan branch can still mimic a control fault
Debrief Notes
- reinforce that this model punishes rushed diagnosis because state, input sense, and startup behavior overlap
- internal opening is justified only after J3 behavior and mode interpretation are already clean
