PulseWave200 Panel-State Drill
Drill Goal
- teach the trainee to separate panel-state faults from TIG hardware faults
- teach the correct order from measurement card to parts substitution to opening map
Starting Scenario
- Model:
PulseWave200
- Complaint: the display shows all 8s after an arc event and TIG will not restart cleanly
- Arrival condition: a remote or pedal may be connected, and the torch polarity is unknown
Expected Document Sequence
- PulseWave200 measurement card
- PulseWave200 parts substitution card
- PulseWave200 board opening map only if the stripped-down baseline still fails
Success Criteria
- the trainee says the first proof step is torch negative, base torch only, and sane gas flow
- the trainee uses the restore-default path before naming a hardware failure
- the trainee keeps remote-only complaints out of the internal branch until proven
Common Misses
- blaming HF hardware before proving torch polarity or gas setup
- ignoring the display reset path when all 8s are already present
- mixing AC-only and remote-only complaints into one false hardware story
Debrief
- The key lesson is that stored-state and accessory-path behavior are part of the diagnosis on this model, not cleanup after diagnosis.
- Internal opening is justified only after reset-state, torch path, and remote path are all bounded.
