WeldKing Training Progression

This progression turns the WeldKing drill set into a staged learning path. It is designed so a newer technician builds stop-rule discipline first, then state-diagnosis discipline, then multi-process branch separation.

Scope

Brand family covered: WeldKing service drills built around CoolArc160, CoolArc200, MultiSonic220, and PulseWave200
Training goal: teach document order, first-proof discipline, and safe escalation before a trainee touches live customer units alone
Starting assumption: the trainee already knows basic welding process names and can use a meter safely

Mastery Gates

Stage 1 Gate: CoolArc160

The trainee states the first proof step before opening any support document.
The trainee checks input condition and OCV against the measurement card before proposing an internal repair.
The trainee names the exact point where the machine should be stripped to local control only.

Stage 2 Gate: CoolArc200

The trainee proves whether the complaint is about wrong input recognition, low output expectation, or a true internal fault.
The trainee uses the local reference manifest or diagram callouts rather than guessing connector identity.
The trainee stops when the sense path is no longer externally provable.

Stage 3 Gate: PulseWave200

The trainee resets stored state before treating the display or panel behavior as a hardware fault.
The trainee distinguishes front-end torch or remote issues from internal control faults.
The trainee uses the router and measurement card in sequence instead of opening all docs at once.

Stage 4 Gate: MultiSonic220

The trainee proves polarity, process selection, trigger path, and feeder path before assuming the MIG section is dead.
The trainee moves cleanly between external substitution, measurement checks, and opening-map escalation.
The trainee can explain why stick or TIG success changes the diagnosis branch for a MIG-dead complaint.

Common Training Failure Patterns

jumping to internal repair from a weak-arc complaint without proving branch power or OCV
treating expected low-output behavior on the wrong input condition as a defective machine
confusing digital-state problems with failed boards
forgetting that a multiprocess machine can prove healthy in one process while the complaint lives in setup, polarity, or accessory path
opening diagrams too early without first naming the complaint family and first proof step

Recommended Training Flow

Run Stage 1 and Stage 2 as tabletop exercises.
Repeat Stage 1 or 2 at a bench with a known-good meter and a simulated complaint if the trainee struggles with proof order.
Run Stage 3 after the trainee is consistent about reset-first and accessory-first reasoning.
Run Stage 4 only after the trainee can explain process isolation without prompting.
Move to supervised live-unit use only after the trainee passes all four drills with stable stop-rule discipline.
